About Us
Georgia’s coast is remarkably intact…

Its landscapes are inspiring, and scientists confirm its ecology is globally significant. In short, the Georgia coast is a treasure and we want to do our part to preserve it for future generations.
In 2013, Cody Laird, Wendy Paulson, and Roy Richards Jr. began Stewards of the Georgia Coast as a collaborative effort to widen the circle of people who are aware of the special qualities of the Georgia coast and who feel motivated to work on its behalf. Their work continues today with the staff leadership of Burch Barger and Scott Coleman, the guidance of a volunteer Advisory Committee, the financial support of Stewards Sustainers, and the fiscal sponsorship of the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation.
Stewards of the Georgia Coast is an informal network of donors committed to advancing philanthropy for coastal conservation. Our core objective is to increase private donors’ investment of time, influence, and financial resources in the conservation nonprofit organizations serving Georgia’s coast. We seek to build relationships, share experiences, cultivate learning, communicate philanthropic needs, and facilitate giving for impact. To achieve this, Stewards of the Georgia Coast hosts educational gatherings and publishes communications to increase awareness of and investment in coastal conservation.
